Preparing for an Emmersion assessment
After purchasing an assessment, you will be directed to the assessment page where you will answer a few background questions. We recommend that you take the test when you have access to:
- A quiet room without distractions
- A stable internet connection
- A headset with a microphone
Taking an Emmersion assessment
For the speaking tests, the first portion includes a listen and repeat section. You will hear a phrase in the target language and simply be asked to repeat it. In the second portion of the test, you will be provided open-ended prompts and asked to provide a 60 second open response for each one. Your responses will be recorded.
In the writing assessments, you will start with multiple-choice questions to evaluate your vocabulary and grammar skills. Then, you will be asked to provide extended written responses on general topics.
The reading, grammar, and listening assessments consist of multiple-choice questions. When you answer a question, the test adapts, selecting subsequent questions based on your language skills.

Results and certificate
Immediately after completing the assessment, you will receive a detailed score report and shareable certificate. The certificate displays the validity date, your CEFR level, your TrueNorth Score, and a description of your assessed ability level. You can print or save your certificate. Add it to application materials, your LinkedIn profile, and your resume to show off your skills to employers and educational institutions.
