Hello! My name is Martha Anne. I have been teaching AP Art History for over 26 years at the high school level in public and private schools. I also teach painting, sculpture, fiber arts, and AP Studio at all levels. I am a National Board Certified Teacher, hold a Master's in Art Education, and am an AP Mentor with the College Board. I am both a classroom teacher and have been tutoring one-on-one for over 3 years online.

My philosophy is that every student I teach is smart and creative, but that is just the beginning. Discovering how to problem-solve creatively is what makes us unique. In my classes, students learn how to analyze works of art and discover how to look at images they have never seen and discuss them contextually. We "spill the tea" behind why the work was created, what made the artist innovative, and gain a stronger understanding of the world of art.

Having taught AP Art History and the College Board exam, I understand the 250 works of art, the structure of the test, and I designed an extensive, all-inclusive website dedicated to helping students pass their AP class and the AP exam.

I have also taught AP Art & Design and the development of portfolios for over 25 years. Successful AP portfolios illustrate the ability to show creative thinking through a body of work that demonstrates artistic skill, creative thinking, and experimentation through a sustained investigation. Student work is independent but guided with the help of successful examples and critique.
