I’m Ciprian, a web developer and the person behind getButterfly.
I’ve been building things for the web for more than 20 years, and I’ve been building WordPress plugins since 2005.
getButterfly started as a place for the things I was building and experimenting with. Over the years, that turned into a large collection of WordPress plugins, tools, articles and projects.
Today, my main focus is WordPress plugins.
WordPress plugins
I build plugins that solve specific problems.
Some are for website owners who want to make their sites easier to manage. Others are built for agencies managing dozens or hundreds of WordPress websites.
I like plugins that do one thing well, don’t get in the way, and don’t require another service or dashboard just to be useful.
That’s the approach I take with my own plugins.
You’ll find tools for performance, analytics, images, forms, administration, content management and other parts of running a WordPress website.
It’s just me
getButterfly isn’t a big plugin company.
It’s me.
I write the code, build the products, maintain the plugins, write the documentation and deal with support.
That also means I can make decisions quickly. There isn’t a product committee, a marketing department or a roadmap meeting standing between an idea and the code.
Sometimes that’s as simple as fixing something because it annoyed me on one of my own websites.
Quite a few of my plugins started exactly that way.
The blog
I also write.
The blog is where I document things I’m working on, problems I’ve run into, WordPress changes, development experiments and things I’ve learned along the way.
Not everything I write is a plugin sales pitch. Sometimes I just want to explain how something works or document something that might be useful to someone else.
You’ll find WordPress articles here, along with some JavaScript and general web-development material. I’ve been doing this for a long time, so there’s quite a bit of history on the site.
20+ years of building things
Over the years I’ve built thousands of WordPress websites and worked on projects for hundreds of clients, along with a lot of smaller experiments and side projects.
Some of those projects are still around. Others have been retired.
The current getButterfly catalogue is the part I’m actively building and maintaining today.
The rest is part of the story.
Why getButterfly?
I like building useful software without making it unnecessarily complicated.
That’s probably the simplest way to describe getButterfly.
If I can solve a problem with a small WordPress plugin instead of another SaaS subscription, another bloated dashboard or another layer of complexity, that’s usually the direction I’ll take.
And if something I build turns out to be useful to other people, even better.
