The Performance Lab plugin is a collection of features focused on enhancing the performance of your site, most of which should eventually be merged into WordPress core. The plugin facilitates the discovery and activation of the individual performance feature plugins which the performance team is developing. In this way you can test the features to get their benefits before they become available in WordPress core. You can also play an important role by providing feedback to further improve the solutions.

These plugins can also be installed separately from installing Performance Lab, but having the Performance Lab plugin also active will ensure you find out about new performance features as they are developed.

Installatie

Installatie vanuit WordPress

  1. Visit Plugins > Add New.
  2. Zoek naar Performance Lab.
  3. Installeer en activeer de Performance Lab plugin.

Handmatige installatie

  1. Upload de volledige performance-lab map naar de /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
  2. Bezoek Plugins.
  3. Activeer de Performance Lab plugin.

Na activering

  1. Bezoek het nieuwe Instellingen > Prestaties menu.
  2. Schakel de individuele modules in die je wil gebruiken.

Wat is het doel van deze plugin?

Het primaire doel van de Performance Lab plugin is om het testen van verschillende prestatiefuncties mogelijk te maken, waarvan het doel is om uiteindelijk in de WordPress core terecht te komen. Het is in feite een verzameling van “functie plugins”, wat het onderscheidt van andere prestatie plugins die prestatiefuncties bieden die niet gericht zijn op de WordPress core en mogelijk vertrouwen op functionaliteit die niet haalbaar zou zijn om te gebruiken in de WordPress core. De lijst met beschikbare functies zal regelmatig veranderen: bestaande functies kunnen worden verwijderd nadat ze zijn uitgebracht in de WordPress core, terwijl er nieuwe functies kunnen worden toegevoegd in elke release.

Kan ik deze plugin gebruiken op mijn productiesite?

Per the primary purpose of the plugin (see above), it can mostly be considered a beta testing plugin for the various performance features it includes. However, it’s essential to understand that utilizing it comes with inherent risks. Users are encouraged to proceed with caution and understand that they are doing so at their own risk.
