When you invest in real estate, the real value isn’t just in the asset – it’s in how it’s managed.   For anyone working with operational real estate, understanding management agreements isn’t optional. It’s essential.   At our recent half-day event, Beyond the Asset: Management for Success, we welcomed attendees from investors, lenders and managers to explore what this means in practice, helping attendees build confidence in the fundamentals.   Camilla Grierson and Nicholas Haringman brought together our cross-practice team from Real Estate, Corporate, Environmental, IP, Finance, Litigation and Employment to lead interactive sessions designed to provide clear, practical guidance that attendees can apply straight away – from where management agreements sit within deal structures, to examples of hotly negotiated clauses, how financing considerations come into play, and what happens when relationships between owners and managers come to an end.   We closed with a panel discussion where we heard from Paul Jayson, Jonathan Powling and Bonnie Calnan, who shared their perspectives on where operational real estate is heading and the opportunities ahead.   Thank you to everyone who joined us. As early land use rights begin to expire, the lack of a clear national framework has created uncertainty. The Guangzhou Guidance provides the most comprehensive approach to date, offering greater clarity for investors and signalling the direction of future rules.
