Born and Raised in Israel of French-moroccan Descent, Azrouël moved to the United States as a teen to explore his interests in design and the arts. By way of New York City, he honed his love for fashion by deconstructing fabrics and finds from vintage markets to drape and design clothes for friends and family. Self-taught, hedeveloped his talent and built a collection through the resources of New York City’s garment center, where he owns and operates his full service designer showroom and atelier today.

Azrouël debuted his eponymous ready-to-wear collection in the fall of 1998, receiving instant acclaim, both commercially and critically. In 2000, Yigal opened his atelier and showroom in the garment center and began his participation at New York Fashion Week.

An avid surfer, Azrouël draws inspiration from his travels, nature, art, photography, culture, architecture, and above all, his hometown–New York City.
